As mentioned, the game binds several genres that are rarely seen combined. This Warhammer Underworlds: Online review of ours will focus on the core mechanics, because of the game’s early access phase and the fact that it changed little now that it is officially launched. The game looks and feels rather complete in this regard, leaving only more content to be added, which has already been announced by the studio.
This is, in its core level, a turn-based strategy tactical game, which also utilizes the very artistic card aspect, uses the rules and the workings of the table-top version, and binds it all together in a high-stakes PvP, capture the flag kind of experience.
Warhammer Underworlds: Online features:
- Turn-based tactical strategy combat
- Uses the mechanics of the table-top game
- Is set in the Warhammer’s Age of Sigmar universe
- An unprecedented amount of tactical variables
- Card game aspect, with collectibles

Currently, there are four factions, or decks, to choose from. Those are the Sigmareens, Chaos, Orcs, and the Undead. Each faction or deck has different fighters, spells, utilities, and offer an entirely unique approach to the game. All statistics and info about your chosen faction are presented through the cards.
The combat itself uses the Warhammer’s well-known dice system for all of the combat mechanics. This includes rolling for the initiatives, hits, blocks, dodges, and everything else. However, the cards are also used in combat. They represent features and utilities you can use for your team, but they also highlight certain objectives and sub-tasks you may have which ultimately lead to victory. As with many previous Warhammer games, Warhammer Underworlds: Online uses objectives that need to be captured and defended in order to win a match.

This is where this title really shines…
This is where this title really shines, as the character models, in-game animations, and the cards themselves look like a work of art. Warhammer Underworlds: Online cards and content are certainly true to the source material, and have represented all of the features in the right way. The user interface is also very comprehensive and informative, without being clogged by infinite options. It is clean and engaging, despite that the game has very intriguing mechanics happening behind the scenes and offers the players numerous chances to affect the gameplay.

FREE TO PLAY FRIENDLY
It currently costs around $30 bucks…
This is a premium game and it currently costs around $30 bucks at the time of this Warhammer Underworlds: Online review being made. However, the studio provides everything else, including in-game content, cards, and all additional content that will come (also new cards) free to all who own their digital or hard copy. Being a premium game that costs $30 bucks, it is not FTP friendly a lot, but since it is a PvP focused experience and because of all in-game content is then available to all players equally, it is a pretty balanced method of publication. This is contrary to games that are free but ask for numerous in-game purchases in order to stay competitive in a PvP environment.
