Fortress

Why is Fortress a must build if you play AoW3 as Confederate?

This is the case for several reasons. One of them is extra strong armor for the early period of the game. This is mainly to soak up damage directed toward your infantry. The second reason is its Machine Jet Flamethrower, an extremely potent anti-infantry weapon, that if ignored will cause havoc amongst foot soldiers. And finally, its most important purpose is to clear landmines before your army. So those are its strengths and utilities, but Fortress has one big drawback, it is slow. Faced with the fact you need this vehicle to be in front of your army, most of the times you will HAVE to slow down with other units or they will face “land-mine” or “tower shots” consequences. Because of this, you should plan ahead when are you going to push and prepare Fortress’s upfront. Send them a bit earlier and don’t forget to sweep the mines. This is imperative especially if you notice the enemy is adamant in placing the mines.

Upgrade Priority for Fortress, an infantry support vehicle:

  1. Mine Deactivator
  2. Armored Hull
  3. Composite Armor
  4. Heavy Flamethrower
  5. Targeting System
  6. Gun Turret
  7. Vehicle Repair Module
  8. Napalm Mixture
  9. Armor Piercing Cartridge

Class: Assault Vehicles

Produced in: Assault Vehicle Factory LVL 1

Most effective against infantry.

A heavy assault infantry support vehicle, Fortress is designed, first of all, to destroy the enemy’s manpower and light vehicles. It is armed with a machine gun and a flamethrower. Thanks to its heavy armor, Fortress serves as an excellent cover for infantry and can withstand much fire itself. And a mine detector allows it to find and neutralize enemy mines.
