Black Desert mobile version of the innovative Korean 3D MMORPG is out in Asia and is soon to be released worldwide, at least according to the Black Desert mobile wiki. Besides high definition graphics and absolutely gorgeous looks, this game is already famous for some innovative features and a fast-paced combat style. Appearance is definitely not the only thing sandbox MMORPG fans can expect to get from this 3D mobile game, so let’s delve a little deeper.
Published by Pearl Abyss, the game brings 3D visuals in the form of a well-known sandbox massively multiplayer online role-playing game, with the player base and servers to be determined as of yet. The information is quite limited, but if Black Desert android/iOS is going to be anything close to its PC / Console version, we know we can expect fast-paced combat, similar to what it’s in Legacy of Discord or even Diablo, and naturally crafting, gathering, fishing, and many other non-combat activities. So, the play style won’t be all hack & slash.
There are more than a dozen different classes in Black Desert mobile, some of which include the dark knight (yes you read that right), ninja, explorer, sorceress, warrior, and many more…
The gameplay is, as mentioned, similar to your usual MMORPGs, with you roaming around the entire world map with your selected character and slashing or blasting your way through enemies, depending on the class you’ve chosen.
This may not be anything innovative for sure, but Pearl Abyss finally made the step everyone was thinking about, and we all knew will eventually happen – they almost completely automated the gameplay.
That may be an overstatement, but the auto-play feature is truly the best we’ve seen in an online game so far, according to every feedback or review found so far.
And, let’s face it, playing a game like this, where you need to spend countless hours and days killing stuff just to level once or twice when at high levels, really isn’t practical anymore. Those days are long gone, and additionally, since it is a mobile game, people do not want to stare at their mobile phones for such a long time. It’s impossible.
This Auto-Play feature is why many people dislike mobile games in the first place, but at the same time, many of the games wouldn’t be playable at all if there weren’t for it. Black Desert Android and iOS will enable the player to do most, if not all of the grinding and monster slaying, by automation.
You are virtually only required to touch the game if you want to do stuff outside of combat, like turning in your quests, upgrading gear, crafting something, doing a tutorial, or entering an instance.
This game can play itself for hours, which is, as we said, compelling, given the grinding need for any MMORPG ever. But, its fast-paced combat, appearance, and PVE flavor will get you to pick it up in your free time.
The abilities are organized in four main ones plus the weapon attack, similar to what Diablo III brought when it first came out. There is also the augmentation ability feature, where you augment and change your main abilities in ways you see fit, and there is also a puzzle piece system for different rewards and bonuses for your character.
Character models, the environment, skill and ability animations, weapon swings, and everything else really looks high end. Things that will really surprise players are some details which are really well done, like riding your horse, which feels so natural and realistic, you almost feel like you are watching a movie at times.
If we keep comparing Black Desert Mobile with Diablo 3 or similar MMORPGs, we must note that besides the 3D environment and models, the worldview is different. In fact, it is much lower than in other titles, with this game almost being a third-person view, while Diablo, for instance, is more of a bird’s eye view game. Now, what really looks awesome is the mini-map, which also has the same third-person view angle, and is organized nicely.
This game’s advantage is also its vast customization capability, which is something the mobile gaming crowd values more than PC gamers, apparently.
The auto-play capability is a definite way to deal with the farming and RNG nature of these kinds of games. Black Desert Mobile is sure to interest players who like finding rare items, craft different stuff for their characters, tweak their skills and abilities, and spend hours customizing and playing around in your inventory.
The appearance and the animations of abilities will give you that nice, warm feeling when you see those damage figures pop up above your enemies, but at the same time, this game is not that immersive story-wise, which is expected. Black Desert mobile gives the player an opportunity to finally farm everything needed while only spending quality time on the game, which it backs up by gorgeous graphics and fast combat.
