Rockstar Games is a company known for the refinement of their games. Every recent game they made, including the latest Red Dead Redemption 2, is a technical masterpiece without any bugs, game breaking glitches, and other hindrances. It is no wonder why so many companies are looking up to Rockstar and their games, including the Polish developer CD Projekt Red, who named Red Dead Redemption 2 as an example of how refined they want their games to be.
During a recent investor presentation, CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kicinski said that Red Dead Redemption 2 has taught the studio they must release extraordinary games so they can earn themselves a nice fat slice of proverbial cake.
This comment was an answer to the question asked by one of the investors about what lessons did CD Projekt Red learn from the Rockstar game and do they believe that Cyberpunk 2077 will be critically appraised on the level of Rockstar’s Western game.
Kicinski said that, without a doubt, quality is of paramount importance and that they are striving to publish games which are as refined as Red Dead Redemption 2 and recent Rockstar releases in general. He added that the example of Rockstar Games teaches them to publish extraordinary games, and that’s exactly what they are planning to do.
He also addressed a general trend in games today, noticing that people play more of the hit releases, missing other titles that don’t capture their attention. More games and less time to play them is the reason why future games have to be at least worthwhile of the time.
During the presentation, Kicinski also clarified the stage of Cyberpunk 2077 development. By his words, the developers are now “fleshing out the game world” and that the development is on schedule, although there is quite a lot of work still to do before they could call it finished.
Kicinski added that they are filling the world with content and that they are tweaking various factors, which involves a great deal of hard work on the part of developers. After that is done, there comes the hugely important polishing of all that game content and then patching various bugs before calling the game ready for the market.
We have no doubts that CD Projekt Red will deliver another amazing game. The only thing we’re worried about is when it will be released. Hopefully, we will play it before the year in the title.
