Coming from the South Korean studio Joycity, The War of Genesis: Battle of Antaria is an action-packed RPG based on the series of games by Softmax. Developed for Android devices, the game had its soft launch in May and is now available to download and play for free.
The game takes place on the continent of Antaria where war was going strong for decades between Silver Arrow and Dark Armor. When Dark Prince of the Geisir took charge of the Dark Armor federation, everything changed. Dark Armor started gaining an advantage in the war thanks to the Prince’s tactical mind and dark magic. Ultimately, the Silver Arrow suffered a defeat at the Battle of Greates and Pandragon’s King was killed. That is when the war came to an end. However, Dark Prince disappeared in and Airship craft not long after his great victory and the world presumed him dead. In his place, Geisir Chancellor Beradin became an Emperor.
Five years after these events, the Pandragon heirs Princess Eiolin and her brother Prince Rashid are going on an adventure to revive the fallen Kingdom of Pandragon.
Being a turn-based RPG, The War of Genesis: Battle of Antaria needs some tactical and strategizing skills to play. First of all, you will have to choose between various characters and find a way to boost them. But, you will also need to upgrade your Airship since it is an important asset to defend yourself against the other players. Although the game mechanics are familiar to the experienced players, the beginners may need some time to get used to its UI. This is mostly because action RPG is not so easy to play on your small screen mobile device without some previous experience. But, the game is fun and commands are easy to figure out, so you will quickly play like a pro.
One of the coolest things is that you get to control Machina, a giant mech robot that looks as though it came from a different game. While everything else in the game is anime styled and belongs more to the steampunk genre, the Machina is sci-fi through and through. But the genre mash-up doesn’t end there since the heroes use magic to fight and win their battles.
You can become stronger by joining a guild and going to raids to earn more resources and level up. There is a custom story mode that allows you to create your history, side stories, and your own quests. And the best thing about is that you can share with all other players in the game.
However, the game doesn’t offer anything new or that you haven’t played before. On one side, this is great since you will quickly learn the rules, but otherwise, it may not bring anything new to your gaming experience. Nonetheless, The War of Genesis: Battle of Antaria comes from the franchise that has a long tradition, with the firsts one released in 1994 and the last one – The War of Genesis Mobile: Crow II in 2005.
Therefore, this is a fine recommendation to try this game and since it’s free-to-play you can only quit playing if you don’t find it up to your taste.
