Google Play Pass Announced

Google is testing Play Pass – their answer to Apple Arcade

Ever since Apple Arcade was announced several months ago, people were wondering if and when will Google give their answer to this premium service. Well, Google’s ‘Play Pass’ has entered its testing stage, and it won’t be long until it releases worldwide.

But what is Play Pass?

It is a premium subscription service by Google, which provides users with access to hundreds of premium apps and games. The best part about it is that this allows for uninterrupted usage of both. This means no ads, no in-app purchases, no interruptions, and that exactly is the point of premium services.

The way it’s supposed to work is fairly simple. Users will get the chance to try out the service with a 10-day free trial. After this period is over, they can subscribe to the service for $4.99 a month, which is a fairly reasonable price. According to Google, Play Pass will feature various different apps, from action hits to puzzles, fitness trackers, premium music apps, and all sorts of other things. As it appears, some of the games included in the service are Marvel Pinball, Stardew Valley, Risk, and many others.

It remains to be seen if Google’s ‘Play Pass’ will be good enough to compete with Apple Arcade. As a reminder, back in April 2019, it was announced that Apple Arcade has amassed $500 million worth in investments, which is not a small number by any standards. Time will tell which one of these will offer better services for the users, but for now, Google is eager and willing to compete in this area.
