Game Developer Conference in San Francisco brought a lot of announcements and exclusives to the gaming community this year. And one of them was delivered during Epic’s keynote when developer The Bearded Ladies and publisher Funcom announced that their turn-based tactical role-playing video game Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden will be on Nintendo Switch this summer. More precisely, the announcement designated June 25 as the release date which is not so far away.

Released in 2018 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is based on the Swedish tabletop game Mutant Year Zero developed by Target Games. The story takes place after the Red Plague and global-scale nuclear war which destroyed most of humanity and those who survived evolved into mutants due to radiation. These mutants are humanoids and animals alike who roam the land in order to find something to eat and survive the post-apocalyptic setting. In this tactical adventure game, players control three characters and each has different skill set and abilities. Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden received positive reviews from critics and players and it even won the Game, Strategy award at National Academy of Video Game Trade Reviewers Awards.

The Nintendo Switch version will also come with DLC expansion that will also be available to buy for other platforms – Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. And of course, Deluxe Edition will also be available on the same date but only for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch and not Microsoft Windows and it will include the main game and the expansion. The Deluxe Edition for Microsoft Windows is already available for $54.99 and includes paper RPG book, artbook, soundtrack, desktop wallpaper and digital version of the latest Mutant pen.

“Ever since we started working on this game, we have always felt it would be a perfect fit for the Nintendo Switch,” said Haraldur Thormundsson, CEO of The Bearded Ladies. “The game lends itself really well to the Switch controls and the pacing of the tactical turn-based combat is perfect for an on-the-go, handheld console. We are also excited for the opportunity to tell another Mutant Year Zero Story with the new expansion DLC, and we look forward to talking more about that soon.”

You can already pre-order Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden Deluxe Edition at some retailers like Amazon for $39.99, while Standard Edition is currently available for ‎$34.99 on Steam. The price for DLC extension alone is still unknown but there is plenty of time until June 25 to find out.
