PUBG is getting maps remastered

Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, also known as PUBG is currently going through pretty hard times, caused by the overflow of Battle Royale games on the market. In this situation, PUBG has to take some steps in order to stay relevant, considering the game is among the oldest Battle Royales. With that in mind, it looks like the makers of PUBG are preparing some major changes for their maps.

The internet users who follow PUBG subreddit could have spotted various kinds of leaks, which show changes to the game’s original map Erangel. Datamining the files from the PUBG test servers revealed images of the redesigned map with the addition of new elements. There are new compounds, the terrain is also tweaked and there are more sites for tier 3 loot drops.  There’s something for everyone.

PUBG Corp Confirmed those leaks, explaining that they are working on “new ways to balance loot and otherwise improve our maps, Erangel being the first”. They also added that they are aware that loot balance is a very important part of the game, but that map layout is equally important. Therefore they are working to ensure that any changes made to both of those will be properly implemented. PUBG Corp’s plan is to test several potential changes to Erangel map soon.

Curious enough, PUBG Corp will confirm all of the leaked information, saying that images represent a “snapshot in time” rather than a part of a bigger project. Map remasters might be a way to solve some problems concerning the distribution of loot, which many players say is too rare outside of hotspots. This remaster of maps might be a good way to oblige the current community and maybe bring some old player is back. Considering Fortnite and Apex Legends are still on the rise, any change to stabilize player numbers is more than welcome.
