Almost a week ago, we received news that Rangers of Oblivion are definitely coming to iOS and Android devices. This MMORPG already attracted attention with its amazing look and the fact that players will get a chance to kill monsters just like in other monster hunter games.
Rangers of Oblivion was developed by NetEase, a company that has a standing partnership with Blizzard Entertainment to localize its games in China. This time, they created a game that doesn’t hide the influence of Capcom’s Monster Hunter games and yet is a riveting experience for Android and iOS users. I mean, just teaming up with three of your friends to wield weapons at all sorts of giant monsters sounds exciting. But this game is much more than simple monster hunting adventure.
At the beginning of the game, you will be asked to choose which faction to join in the Malheim, a fantasy world where the Rangers of Oblivion take place. This is the land where monsters from the worst nightmares reside and it’s up to players to try to hunt them down solo or with their friends. But mind you, this is not a small world no matter that it’s created for smartphones and tablets. There is a number of other activities to do which are less dangerous and exciting and more necessary like horse-taming, for example. Players will even get opportunities to cook and catch their food, all in order to add to the authenticity of the game.
But this is not all that will make you believe you play a title worthy of the consoles. There are day and night cycles and weather will change, but most importantly the landscapes will be full of details like rich vegetation and lush scenery. Another surprising thing here is character customization which is not so common with mobile games. Players can decide on the silliest details about their characters like nose size or brow crease. When it comes to upgrading your hero, it’s the same as in other games and you have to progress in order to get the improvements you need.
When you play Rangers of Oblivion, it is a definite feeling that this game belongs on PC or console as well. But maybe that is the direction today’s mobile games are taking which will be a good strategy to prove that these titles are equally elaborate, developed and thrill to play like the big games. The year has just begun, and we are very excited to see where it will take us when it comes to mobile video gaming aspect of the entertainment industry.
