Developed by Iron Horse Games LLC and released in April this year, Rocket Valley Tycoon is a small strategy game with a big heart. This time, you will race to launch a rocket into space from the most rudimentary beginnings of creating a settlement and mining for resources.
The game adopts a concept which carries that 1960s vibe when everything was focused on the Space Race between the USSR and USA. There isn’t any mention of that here, but the graphics’ artwork sure alludes to that time period, if the premise wasn’t enough of a reminder.
The player assumes a role of a tycoon whose job is to build a city, take care of its inhabitants and manage resources in order to develop his rocket building business. You will have to build railroads, harvest resources and make your citizens happy in order to make progress.
The game is available for both iOS and Android platforms for free although you will have to make in-app purchases to speed up the process if you find grinding too annoying. The more you build, the richer you become and unlock new parts of the map. This may sound like a strategically demanding game, but it’s actually light and not hard to play. You can pop up and play a few minutes a day and then go about your business without spending too much time glued to your phone for playing a game.
When it comes to the settlements you build, you will have to take care of your inhabitants as well. While building a railroad and moving resources around may be the main way to grow your empire, you can also get big rewards from your inhabitants if you keep them happy. This makes sense quite a lot and actually gives more credibility to this strategy game.
It may seem that Rocket Valley Tycoon is more than you bargained for, and sometimes it can be overwhelming with the managing of resources and cities. But it’s not a time-consuming game and you can play it casually while at the same time achieving results. And that is what makes this game perfect for anyone, whether they do or don’t have experience in playing strategies. With Rocket Valley Tycoon anyone can try and build their rocket to send into space, only if they are ready to do it gradually and in time.
