Tanks seem to be quite a popular theme to make a video game about. Older gamers who probably remember NES smash hit Battle City now have a chance to play immensely detailed World of Tanks. But, truth to be told, thanks to nostalgia goggles, we missed simple and immensely fun gameplay in a tank game. Until now, that is. Tank Raid Online would be best described as modern PvP Battle City, with entertaining gameplay and contagious content.
If you played the games like Agar.io, you’ll catch up to the rules in no time. In the beginning, all you have is a tiny little tank in the midst of the battlefield and by fighting and defeating opponents you will gain power-ups, better weapons, and armor and improve the overall abilities of your war machine. You can play against your friends or with the players worldwide in more than seven arenas, with more to come soon. There are 20 tanks to choose from, each with their own special abilities and signature attack. Add to that combination some 15 awesome weapons (plus more coming soon), and you’ll get a nice number of combinations you can choose from and play with. But there’s more since you can upgrade your tanks and weapons into fearsome battle units.
There are several multiplayer modes you can try your skills in. The first we’ll mention is 3v3 Galaxy Football. This mod is pretty similar to the Rocket League gameplay, you have a crystal ball in the center of the map which you have to get a hold of, take to the opposing team’s goal and score. But, the trick is, both sides are fully armed, so you’ll be trying to play a football game while shooting at each other. Sounds really fun.
The next mode is the 3v3 Team Deathmatch. It follows the standard format of the mode, you have two teams that fight to the end of the time limit, and the team with most kills is victorious. The element that’s a bit different is that there’s only one power-up item, galaxy stone, which is powerful enough to overturn the tides of battle. The trick is, it only appears at the beginning of the last minute of the battle, which turns that last minute into a rat race with the shooting.
There’s also 1v4 Solo Deathmatch, which is the asymmetrical multiplayer mode, similar to Evolve. The players battle in the round arena (so there are no catching corners) and gradually upgrade their tanks while fighting. This mode also contains galaxy stone as the crucial item, and the person owning it has an obvious advantage against other players, but it’s also a sole target for the rest of the squad. At the end of the time limit, the player with most kills has declared a victor. There’s another mode in preparations, and that’s 1v4 Solo Survival. Judging by the name, it’s about who will survive the longest while holding the galaxy stone in their possession.
There’s a lot of interesting info about this game. For starters, it’s a cross-platform game, so you can play it on your mobile device or PC. Every month the game’s content is updated with some new features, and there is daily and weekly champion system, in which 20 best players compete for some nice rewards. You can upgrade your tanks and skills by collecting cards too. The best thing about Tank Raid Online, however, is that the game is free to win, meaning that all players have equal chance to emerge victoriously and that all in-game elements are accessible for everyone.
It looks like we’re getting another highly entertaining tank game on the market. All people who enjoyed destroying opponent tanks in games like Battle City and Panzer Elite will find their new favorite game in Tank Raid Online.
