Do you like puzzles? Have you ever wished to have your own resort that you can design and renovate the way you like? Do you enjoy a story full of mystery, drama, and romance? If your answer to any of those questions is yes, you might want to give Vineyard Valley a try.
Vineyard Valley: Match & Blast Puzzle Design Game was developed by Jam City, Inc. This developer is most famous for its acclaimed title Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, which as of today has over 10 million downloads on GooglePlay alone, with an average score of 4.4 stars with over 1.5 million reviews. This time, they decided to create a story-driven puzzle adventure game in which players can design and renovate their own resort while following interesting, immersive, and engaging story filled with mystery, drama, and romance. So far, just a week after its official release, Vineyard Valley has more than 500,000 downloads on GooglePlay alone and it has 4.4 user review score from over 14,000 reviews. On App Store, it currently has 4.4 stars rating from 600+ reviews.
In this game, you start out as a protagonist who spent their childhood in the Tangled Vines, once a thriving resort and vineyard. The Tangled Vines was run by your aunt Margaret, while chef Raoul ran the world-class kitchen. His daughter Simone was your best friend, and you had some amazing time there. Sadly, Raoul passed away suddenly, and the Tangled Vines was never the same without him. Ten years have passed since then, and your aunt Margaret called you to ask for your help with restoring the Tangled Vines back to its former glory. You’ll soon learn that you won’t be doing this alone. Your aunt Margaret will also invite Simone back to be the new chef and put all the cooking skills her father Raoul taught her to good use. From there on, the story will follow the renovation of the Tangled Vines, and each chapter will bring something new and exciting to the table.
The graphics of this game are simply said – charming. The characters are beautifully designed and highly detailed. They also feel alive, and you’ll definitely enjoy interacting with them. The animation of the characters is fairly well done, and their facial expressions are great. The entire Tangled Vines is masterfully designed with so many little details that will add up to the general atmosphere. However, there’s a downside to all this. Since the game is in its early stages, there are numerous reports of game glitching, slowing down, or crashing entirely due to the poor optimization. This is especially true to those with older phones that are on the low-end of system requirements for the game. Hopefully, the developers will fix these issues, which will definitely make the game more enjoyable and fun.
There are two main gameplay sections in Vineyard Valley, the story and the puzzles. During the story section, you will interact with other characters, learn more about them, make important decisions related to the renovation of the Tangled Vines etc. This is by far, the most interesting and exciting part of the game. Each chapter pushes the story forward and while not perfect, it is fun and engaging enough to keep you playing. As for the puzzles, these are fairly standard for the Match and Blast puzzle game, but luckily, they don’t feel boring or too repetitive. The reason for this is that each chapter adds something new to the table, and the puzzles get more and more complex as you progress through the game. This makes them relatively fresh, so you won’t feel like they are repeating too much. The second reason is the story. There is a story segment after you complete each puzzle section, which will serve as a nice motivation to explore further into the game.
