Inside of every gamer, there’s an ambition to create, and it is equally strong with the ambition to destroy. Ever since the beginning of the gaming, there were games that let you build and manage various structures, from theme parks and hospitals to the entire traffic system. You could recognize those games for having Sim or Tycoon in their names. Wonder Park is a kind of a descendant of those games, in which you have a mission to build an amusement park of your dreams, and hope that your dreams are the same as the dreams of your visitors.
The main characters are members of The Wonder Park gang, June, Boomer, Greta and many others. They start the game with an abandoned theme park that needs restoration. Their goal is to bring the magic back to the abandoned theme park, and the visitors will come. There are several features that can help you with that. For starters, there is the Market, where you can buy animated rides, colorful decorations, and food stands so you can add them to your park. In the design of the park you have the absolute freedom to do whatever your heart desires, and with successful managing of the park, you will unlock more attractions.
The more rides your Park has the more of visitors will come, so diversity is the key. Visitors will help you earn Smiles, which fill the Smile-O-Meter, and you will get special rewards each time you hit a Smile Milestone. Therefore it is advisable to try filling up your Smile-O-Meter each time you play. There are some rides that will generate unique ride items which can prove useful later in the game. This will make you feel inspired to keep building a bigger and better park.
Magic Rides starts simple, but once you learn the ropes and start to play more seriously, it will require more management skills and strategy. There will be some serious human resource management, as well as budget calculations, promotions, advertisement and so on. All those will require balancing the activities in a way that will make most economy students sweat. The more of visitors you attract the more quests and characters you will unlock. We’re talking about hundreds. Each character has a unique storyline which is discovered by playing through quests. There are also quests which level up your park and satisfy guests when solved.
Another cute feature of this game is that it lets you make sweets for your customers to enjoy. You can use various ingredients like candy or apples, and mix them with other items in Sweet Food Factory to create even tastier treats. Not only will you have great fun making them, but you can also sell them in the Marketplace too, and earn some money to spend on your theme park improvement. Visitors tend to pay more for cooked snacks, so it is quite a useful skill to learn.
There is another thing about this theme park. Underneath the layer of management looms a mystery you need to solve. Each time you unlock a new area you will clear away the mysterious darkness that has taken over the park. So that sentence about the restoration of the magic to the theme park wasn’t metaphorical after all.
To sum it up, this is quite an entertaining game that will put your organization skills to the test as you’re trying to restore a theme park to its former glory with a little help of your friends. Nothing we haven’t seen before but nevertheless more than decently done. The game is available now free on the iOS and Android devices, so if you are willing to create some amusement feel free to try it.
