Hello everyone, welcome to our Full Marks Event Guide for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. This is perhaps, one of the most exciting and interactive events in the game, and this guide will help you understand how it works and help you optimize your performance. During this event, you will compete with 24 other students. You’ll need to complete various tasks, each tied to specific tile on the board. This will grant you points, but the main goal of the event is making patterns in order to earn large bonus points and raise your position. While this may sound confusing at start, it’s actually quite simple. The following guide will explain in detail every aspect of this interesting event.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Full Marks Guide

First of all, when the event starts, you’ll be given a board filled with tiles. Each board contains 16 tiles (4 rows by 4 columns). Every tile has a task assigned to it. Depending on the task, each of those tiles is worth 10, 20, or 30 points. However, each time you complete a pattern, you will be given some bonus points and a new board with a completely new set of tasks.

Each of these tasks is unique in some way. Some of those are “preferable”, while some should be avoided.

Here is the list of preferable tasks, since these can easily be completed with little to no effort:

  • Tasks involving collecting creature food – you can easily get food by doing any of the regular classes since creature food is often offered as a reward upon earning stars.
  • Tasks involving feeding creatures – basically, most of the players will have at least 2-3 creatures, if not more. You can feed them every six hours, so in the worst case scenario, you’ll need six hours to complete these types of tasks.
  • Tasks involving activities with friends – these can also be completed easily since there are three different activities you can do, and usually those are enough to complete most of these tasks.
  • Tasks involving collecting attribute points. Most of those tasks will require earning a number of points in a specific attribute. Simply do 8-hour classes tied to that attribute and if you complete all of the mini-tasks tied to it, you’ll gain 100 points just by doing that. And since you’re getting 5 rewards upon completing stars, there is a high chance you’ll get the remaining attributes that way. If not, you can also get rewards from feeding creatures, which can complement this task.
  • Tasks involving spending coins. These tasks are perhaps the easiest ones since you can easily spend gold in many different ways – by purchasing cosmetic items, doing activities with friends, or simply by dueling.
  • Tasks involving dueling. There is a task requiring you to win a few duels. The difficulty of this can be variable since there is a lot of RNG and luck involved, but in most cases, you should be able to win every second duel, which will allow you to complete this relatively quickly. This task also complements the one requiring you to spend coins since each duel costs coins, which is in most cases enough to complete it.
  • Tasks involving collecting energy from various “free-energy” spots. Most of these will require you to collect energy from a specific spot – for example, Kid in Hogsmeade or Web from the Forbidden Forest. You’ll likely need to do this a couple of times, but in general, these are easily doable.
  • Tasks involving purchasing clothing items. There are plenty of clothing items in a store, so you are likely to complete these tasks easily. The only problem is if you already purchased all of these, and in that case, it is impossible to complete such tasks.
  • Tasks involving bonding with creatures. There are some tasks requiring you to Bond with creatures to gain experience a few times. As long as you have some creatures that are not at max level, these types of tasks should be easy to complete. However, if you only have one creature you can bond with to gain experience, and the task requires you to bond multiple times, you might want to skip it.
  • Tasks requiring you to play with your pets. You can easily do these tasks simply by waking up your pets in your dormitory. Basically, it is relatively easy to obtain four pets that are purchasable with gems. Waking these up a few times is all it takes to finish these tasks. And if you have any of the brown notebook pets, it will make it even easier.
  • Tasks involving earning House Points. These can easily be completed by doing regular classes (preferably 8-hour ones). In most cases, one 8-hour class is all it takes to complete these types of tasks.

Here are the tasks that should be avoided in most cases:

  • Tasks that require earning a set amount of stars from specific classes. These tasks should only be completed for one class, preferably the one which awards attribute for another task. This way, you can kill two birds with one stone, but since most of these tasks require 10+ stars, you want to avoid completing more than one such task.
  • Tasks requiring you to get full stars from a specific class. Realistically, the best way to do these is by spamming 1-hour classes, but it is counterproductive since you will not get many Attribute or House Points that way. Avoid these in most cases.
  • Tasks involving earning Coins. These tasks are basically huge RNG. It will take quite a long time to passively earn enough gold for any of these tasks. However, you can get lucky and receive 1000 Coins as a reward from earning stars or feeding max level creatures, which will make things considerably easier. Sadly, this isn’t reliable since it’s too random, so these types of tasks should generally be avoided.
  • Tasks involving Quidditch friendlies. Most of these tasks require you to do a number of friendly matches. Since there is a waiting period of 7 hours between each Quidditch friendly, you definitely want to avoid most of these tasks, especially the ones requiring you to complete 3+ friendly matches. However, if the task requires you to complete 1-2 friendlies, then it is ok to go for it.

It is worth noting that you can refresh any of these tiles by spending gems. The first time you decide to refresh a tile, it will cost 5 gems, the second refresh on the same tile cost 10 gems, and so on. Keep in mind that each of these tiles has individual refresh cost, so refreshing it once or twice is okay, but anything more than that is pretty much a waste of gems.

Now that the tasks are explained, we can proceed to the patterns. First, what are the patterns? Simply said, you can get bonus points by completing certain sets of tiles on the board. This will grant you some bonus points and you’ll also get a new board with a new set of tasks. Keep in mind that after completing the task, you won’t get its points until you collect it from the board, but DO NOT DO THAT until you analyze the board and decide which pattern to go for. The reason for this is simple – if you mistakenly collect wrong tiles, you can end up unable to complete some of the patterns, which will result in you gaining way fewer points than you should. There are four different patterns you can complete – Single, Double, Triple and Spell. Below is the detailed explanation for each of these patterns.

Single:

These patterns are pretty straightforward. By collecting tiles along the single horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line, you will complete a single pattern that will award you 60 bonus points and a new board. Below are all the possible combinations for Single patterns.

Bear in mind that you should ONLY go for Single pattern if you have several unfavorable tasks on the board and it is impossible for you to go for Double, Triple or Episkey without spending gems to refresh some of the tiles. Generally, it is better to refresh a couple of tiles and try to get some more favorable tasks in order to complete Double, Triple or Episkey, but if you are out of gems and there is no way to get any of these patterns, then you should simply go for single.

Double:

To get Double pattern, you need to collect tiles in a way that will form two straight lines that are intersecting at some point. Completing Double pattern will award you 140 bonus points. There are several different ways to achieve this, and all of the possible patterns are shown in the image below.

You should only do Double pattern if it is not possible to complete Triple or Spell pattern without spending a lot of gems (or if you don’t want to spend gems at all).

Triple:

In order to get Triple pattern, you need to collect tiles in a way that will form three straight lines that are intersecting at the same point. This means you need to do one horizontal, one vertical, and one diagonal line. There are eight possible ways to achieve this, and all of the possible patterns are shown in the image below.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Full Marks Guide Triple Pattern

Since you need to complete 10 out of 16 tiles to earn Triple pattern, you will more than likely receive some unfavorable tasks, and you’ll probably need to refresh some of these. However, do not waste gems. Go for 1-2 refresh on maximum 2-3 different tiles and if you don’t get any favorable tasks, then it is better to go for Double or Spell patern.

Spell:

Completing this pattern requires collecting tiles in such a way that they form a traced wand movement of a spell. As it turns out, each event has a different spell tied to it. Some Full Marks Event have Episkey pattern, and it could be achieved by completing the pattern illustrated in the image below.

Sometimes, Full Marks Event have Locomotor spell pattern, and you could complete it as illustrated in the image below.

In some cases, Full Marks Event have Accio spell pattern, which you can complete by collecting the set of tiles as illustrated in the image below.

Some Full Marks have Colloportus spell. The pattern for this spell is shown in the image below.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Full Marks Event - Colloportus

This pattern is second best in terms of bonus points gained per tile and should be aimed for if you cannot get Triple without spending a significant amount of gems to refresh unfavorable tiles.

In terms of bonus points, here is the breakdown for each of the patterns.

  • Single pattern requires collecting 4 tiles and it rewards 60 points. This means you get 15 bonus points per tile.
  • Double pattern requires collecting 7 tiles and it rewards 140 points. This will get you 20 bonus points per tile.
  • Triple pattern requires collecting 10 tiles and it rewards 250 points. This equates to 25 bonus points per tile.
  • Spell pattern requires collecting 8-9 tiles and it awards 180-215 points (depending on a pattern). This is generally the second-best pattern to complete in terms of bonus points per tile, so if you cannot get a Triple, Spell pattern is a way to go.

Analyzing these, you can see that the Triple pattern is a clear winner when it comes to points gained per tile. However, keep in mind that there is a high chance you will get at least 2-3 unfavorable tasks for this pattern, and if you don’t want to spend gems, going for Spell or Double might be a better solution.

Also, another important thing to note is that all of the tiles you complete but don’t collect will still be awarded to you upon finishing any of the patterns. Because of this, you should NEVER collect any of the tiles until you are 100% certain about the pattern you are going for.

Other than that, it is worth mentioning that you can use gems to boost your points gained for a specific amount of time. This will add up a multiplier to your points gained and it is best to use it just before you want to collect tiles and form a pattern. This way, you will get one entire board worth of multiplied points and your boost will likely last for another board, which means that you can earn two full boards worth of points with multiplier boost.

Bear in mind that it is entirely possible to get top 3 (or even top spot) without even spending any gems, but depending on your opponents, this might not be the case all the time. However, using this guide, you are very likely to earn yourself at least top 6 spots and get some nice rewards.
