Should I buy the Dress up! Time Princess Swan Lake story and spend 30 of my hard-earned reader’s coupons or make it my default story? Well, we’ve played through the entire story, built a detailed walkthrough along the way, and we have some thoughts about the whole thing.
What is important for a storyline to work in this gameplay environment, in our honest opinion, is if the story is interesting to play through (including all the plot points and the ending/s), is it difficult and rewarding to go through, and how well does it stand compared to the original story source, in this case, the original Swan Lake ballet scenario.
The short answer:
And, let me tell you straight away, the short answer is – YES! This is an awesome story, very interesting to play through, challenging at times but even more rewarding for that, and it is a very clever adaptation of the original work. But, let’s go more into detail on that in our review that follows…
The main character is a little girl, who gets a lectern with a book from her mom one day…
If you’ve played the game and enjoyed it so far, you know how this works. The main character is a little girl, who gets a lectern with a book from her mom one day. The lectern and the book appear to be magical and take the child on a journey through history, from the fashion point of view.
Now, what we can conclude is that the girl’s mom, named Alison, was also a traveler apparently, but that is not important for the story. She works as a fashion supervisor, which could be connected to the overall story and could be used later in future stories perhaps.
Upon opening the book, Alison’s daughter meets Isabel, a small fairy, who takes you through the ropes as a sort of a tutorial, and she remains at our side for later. Now, while the main story is about Queen Marie and it takes us to France, in the 18th century, there are different books and different stories we can explore. This particular one is titled the Swan Lake.
The story (Spoiler Free)
Alison wakes up to find herself in a body of a princess named Signy, the daughter of King Edward XII…
The walkthrough for this new book in Dress Up! Time Princess will take us through the story and we will walk you through all the aspects, from fashion and composing your outfits, to the story itself and we will make the comparison to the real books this is based upon.
So, if you are interested in detail how the story unfolds, check out our walkthrough, for we will not reveal any important plot points and spoil any important details of the story. We will introduce some characters and make a parallel to the original content, but in a way that it doesn’t reveal anything crucial for the players’ enjoyment.
In this story, Alison wakes up to find herself in a body of a princess named Signy, the daughter of King Edward XII. She starts off very young in the story, at about 14 years old, and she is just a kid still. She likes to sneak out of the palace and go to the forest, where she has already found the iconic Swan Lake at the time when the story starts.
Now, as her life is well and good, Signy’s troubles begin when her father’s health begins deteriorating at a fast pace. King Edward XII is consumed by the stress that running the kingdom’s matters brings him. He is also a widower since sickness has taken Signy’s mom away earlier. So, her life is not that sweet as it may initially look and her motivation for running away to the woods are more understandable.
However, the potential loss of both her parents is only the beginning of her worries, as the king has no other children and the throne has no other heirs. So, everyone is already looking at Signy as their future queen, soon-to-be at that, while she doesn’t want that life for two reasons, the first is that she wants her father to stay with her and the second is that she is just a child.
Be that as it may, her father and his advisors are forced to speed along Signy’s coming of age party, which is a ceremony held by the court, where potential suitors come from all over the land and neighboring kingdoms. They all come there to offer their hand in marriage, and Signy is expected to choose someone.
On the other hand, Signy has made friends with majestical swans at the Swan Lake, in the deep forest, and ruling is the least of her priorities. Well, she still accepts to make an appearance at her party, and the princess who compete for her hand organize a hunting party in the forest, which begins a series of unfolding events that take Signy’s world by storm.
Requirements and difficulty

Dress up! Time Princess Swan Lake story is not a large download and will ask for around 400MB of storage space, varied depending on the device. However, keep in mind that is a difficult story to play through, in terms of the gameplay requirements. Its difficulty is marked by 3 butterflies and there are a couple of stages that are very hard to go through and get the perfect score.
This story has one chapter with 17 stages. Now, if you are new to the game, scoring perfect is a must in virtually all stages of a story, because it yields all the rewards from the stage, which most likely include a clothing item blueprint. Now, you need this blueprint to craft a certain clothing item, that is usually required for the next stage. You can’t start it without it, so it can be a challenging ploy, but also very rewarding.
This is especially true of how the outfits are composed and blended into a storyline here. All outfits Signy wear are very memorable, fashionable, designed to fit the occasion perfectly in the story. For instance, she has an outfit set she always wears in the forest when she goes to the lake, and so on. It is quite enjoyable to grasp all these things.
How well was it done?
The original Swan Lake ballet is composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1875-76 and is probably the most popular ballet of all times…one of anyway. It is believed that the story there is a combination of various German and Russian folk tales, but the broad strokes are quite recognizable and there is no official original libretto writer credit.
There, it is a princess that is turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse, Princess Odette. She is a swan by day and a human by night. It is a love story, including Prince Siegfried, magic, love, and even some action. All those aspects are truthfully represented in the Dress up! Time Princess Swan Lake version, and are expanded to fit the story narrative of the game quite well.
Definitely recommended for all to try it and it is worth much more than 30 reader’s coupons it asks for…
Dress up! Time Princess Swan Lake is another victory for the game developers and writers. It is a perfect choice to adapt such a story in this game’s environment and was done masterfully, both in adapting the story and the gameplay. It is definitely recommended for all to try it and it is worth much more than 30 reader’s coupons it asks for.
